Pronombres Reflexivos e Intensivos

¿Sientes que te hace falta aprender más maneras de expresarte en ingles? No te preocupes, si sigues mis lecciones podrás aprender esto y mucho más. En esta ocasión vamos a hablar de los pronombres reflexivos e intensivos, los cuáles te van a ayudar muchísimo.

Pronombres Reflexivos

Te presento una lista de los Pronombres Reflexivos:

SINGULAR

  • myself – (me/ yo mismo)
  • yourself – (te/se tú/si mismo)
  • himself – (se/él mismo)
  • herself – (se/ella misma)
  • itself – (se/a sí mismo)
  • oneself – (uno mismo)

PLURAL

  • yourselves – (se/ ustedes mismos)
  • themselves – (se/ellos mismos)
  • ourselves – (nos/ nosotros mismos)

*WARNING*ADVERTENCIA*

¡No te confundas! No se dice hisself ni theirselves.

hisself= incorrecto

theirselves= incorrecto

¿Cuándo se usan los Pronombres Reflexivos?

1.- Generalmente cuando tanto el sujeto como el objeto de la oración son el mismo.

Por ejemplo:

The dog saw itself in the mirror. (El perro se vió a sí mismo en el espejo.)

Sujeto: dog

Objeto: ¿Qué vió el perro? A sí mismo.

2.-Como complemento de una preposición

She looked at herself in the water (Ella se miró en el agua.)

Una Diferencia entre Inglés y Español

No se usan los Pronombres Reflexivos para costumbres generalmente hechos por uno mismo.
Ejemplos:
▫Me lavo los dientes. – I brush my teeth.
–No se dice: “I brush myself the teeth.”
–
▫Ella se lavó el cabello. – She washed her hair.
–No se dice: “She washed herself the hair.”
–
▫Se viste con pantalones todos los días. – He dresses in pants every day.
–No se dice: “He dresses himself in pants every day.”

Los Pronombres Reflexivos van…

1 . después del verbo principal:

▫I hurt myself. (Me lastimé.)
▫They worked themselves to death (Ellos mismos trabajaron hasta morir.)
▫We seated ourselves in the restaurant. (Nos sentamos nosotros mismos en el restaurante.)

2. después de la preposición:

▫Did you do this by yourself? (¿Te lo hiciste tú mismo?)
▫Take care of yourselves. (Cuídense.)
▫The TV came on by itself. (La televisión se prendió por sí misma.)

Pronombres Intensivos

Para enfatizar el sujeto (de quien estamos hablando) usamos los Pronombres Intensivos. Estos son iguales que los Reflexivos con la diferencia que si se elimina de la oración no se cambia el significado.

Por ejemplo:

She picked her dress out herself. (Ella misma escogió el vestido)

Si lo eliminamos queda así:

She picked her dress out. (Ella escogió el vestido)

El significado sigue siendo el mismo, pero usando el Pronombre Intensivo enfatizamos que el sujeto lo hizo por su cuenta.

Otros ejemplos:

  • He himself fixed the clock. (Él mismo reparó el reloj.)
    • He fixed the clock himself.
  • She herself called to schedule the appointment. (Ella misma llamó para agendar la cita.)
    • She called to schedule the appointment herself.

Practiquemos con Pronombres

Primero con los Pronombres Intensivos. Lo que quiero que hagas es agregar un Pronombre Intensivo a cada oración.  Recuerda que el significado va a quedar intacto.

  • We feel that what we are doing is unimportant (Creemos que lo que estamos haciendo no es importante.)
  • Frank went shopping with his wife, but he didnt want to. (Frank fue de compras con su esposa, pero él no quería.)
