Cómo Leer los Números Grandes en Inglés

En esta lección te enseñaré a leer los números grandes en inglés. Básicamente es igual que en español. Sólo hay dos diferencias que te voy a enseñar.

La primera es que cuando quieres decir 1; 100; 1,000; 100,000; etc. en inglés colocamos un artículo adelante.

Por ejemplo:

  • cien= a hundred
  • mil= a thousand
  • millón= a million

También tenemos la opción de colocar ONE delante de los números.

Por ejemplo:

  • cien= a hundred= one hundred
  • mil= a thousand= one thousand
  • millón= a million= one million

¿Se dice con “A” o con “ONE”?

La diferencia entre colocar A y ONE es si quieres poner énfasis en cuántos. Si cuántos es importante entonces colocas ONE delante del número. Si el número no es tan importante para la persona que está hablando, entonces se utiliza A.

Por ejemplo:

Había cien personas en la fiesta.

  • Con énfasis: There were one hundred people at the party.
  • Sin énfasis: There were a hundred people at the party.

Entonces, si quieres decir el número con énfasis utiliza ONE. Si no lo quieres decir con énfasis utiliza A.

La otra diferencia con el español es dónde poner AND en inglés. En inglés se pueden leer los números utilizando la conjunción AND. En inglés, AND se coloca después del espacio de los cientos o de las centenas.

Por ejemplo:

  • 127= one hundred and twenty seven – el AND se coloca después del espacio de los cientos
  • 127= one hundred twenty seven – también se puede decir sin el AND y suena bien

Incluir  o no incluir AND cuando se leen números grandes en inglés es una cuestión de preferencia. Las dos formas se oyen bien y suenan de manera natural.

Ejemplos de cómo leer números grandes:

  • 127= one hundred (and) twenty seven
  • 1,127= one thousand, one hundred (and) twenty seven
  • 133,127= one hundred (and) thirty three thousand, one hundred (and) twenty seven
  • 1,350,980= one million, three hundred (and) fifty thousand, nine hundred (and) eighty
