La Diferencia Entre REMIND y REMEMBER – Palabras Confusas en Ingles

Welcome to this English lesson from SELVA! I’m so glad you’re here. In this lesson you’re going to learn some of the differences between REMIND and REMEMBER.

Here’s what you need to know:
REMEMBER is used when you recall something yourself.
RECORDAR, ACORDARSE DE

REMIND is used when someone else makes your remember something.
RECORDARLE A ALGUIEN

For example:

I always remember my niece’s birthday. – Siempre recuerdo el cumplea~os de mi sobrina. Siempre me acuerdo de la cumplea~os de mi sobrina.

My mother always reminds me about my nieces birthday. I don’t ever remember it. – Mi mama me recuerda siempre de la cumplea~os de mi sobrina. No la recuerdo.


REMEMBER – RECORDAR, ACORDARSE DE

I don’t remember her name. – No recuerdo su nombre. No me acuerdo de su nombre.

Do you remember the appointment date? – ?Recuerdas la fecha de la cita? ?Te acuerdas de la fecha de la cita?

She always remembers my birthday. – Siempre recuerda mi cumple. Siempre se acuerda de mi cumple.


REMIND – RECORDARLE (A ALGUIEN)

OJO: Solo se usa ACORDARSE for REMEMBER.
No se usa ACORDARSE for REMIND.

Remind me to pay my bill tomorrow. – Recuérdame pagar la cuenta mañana.

Will you remind your sister to pay the bill? – ?Se la podrias recordar a tu hermana que pague la cuenta?

Please, don’t remind me. I don’t want to think about it. – No me recuerdes. No quiero pensar en eso.

This neighborhood reminds me of my childhood. – Este vecindario me recuerda mi ninez.
